Gorillapod Reviews
"Recently purchased one of these little gizmos for my dad. It does exactly what it sets out to do. There really isn't anything I can add that other reviewers have already said... except this advice.
Make sure you purchase the right one. Eh? Well let me explain. This Gorillapod is designed for lightweight compact cameras, like the Canon Ixus. For those complaining that it will not take the weight of a Canon Digital SLR, I'm not surprised. Basic reading comprehension does help a lot, since there is a Gorillapod SLR version as well... the clue is in the name.
So lets recap

"I bought the Joby Gorillapod for my husband for Christmas; he was thrilled and had never seen one before. It is an amazing 'bit of kit' and so flexible you can more or less attach it to anything. We've had hours of fun taking pictures of all the family; normally one of us gets left out, but now we can all be together in more family shots.
This is bound to become a design icon of the future and really "does what it says on the tin". And a real bonus is that it's small enough to put in you coat pocket and weighs about 2oz. Just fantastic, highly recommended.."

" . . . Before you buy it, however, make sure you find out how heavy the intended camera is (including lenses)."
"Although most compact cameras have a tripod socket this is invariably at one end of the body and they feel unstable with some of the small tripods sold for use with a compact camera. This isn't a problem for the Gorillapod as you can bend the legs to make the camera nice and stable. The Gorillapod is more than an ordinary tripod though, I've wrapped it around the banisters in a restaurant to take a group photo and wrapped it around a fence post for outdoor shots. Handy for night shots too where the longer exposure time means jitter is a problem. You do need a coin to screw the removable adapter plate to the camera and you need to know how to switch the self-timer on. It's small and light, I carry mine in a jacket pocket.
